promise的用法

Promise的用法有两种，分别是动词和名词，promise用作一般动词时，意思是允诺、答应，是指作出口头或书面的许诺，答应别人自己去做某事。但仅指主观意愿，并不一定能实现或有实现的基础。promise作名词时表示“承诺，诺言”，是可数名词；promise也可作“希望，出息”解，可用来指人的出息，也可用来指事情有希望，是不可数名词。promise既可用作不及物动词，也可用作及物动词，用作及物动词时，意为允诺，许诺，其后可接名词、代词、动词不定式或that从句作宾语，作名词的意思是“诺言”。

用作名词(n.)

1、Once he made a promise,he would stick to it.

他一旦许下诺言,就坚守这个诺言。

2、I have committed myself and must keep my promise.

我已经作出了承诺,必须信守我的诺言。

I don't trust his promise to come for a visit.

用作动词(v.)

1、I promise never to reveal his secret.

我答应决不泄漏他的秘密。

2、I promise never to lie to you from now on.

我发誓从今以后再也不向你说谎话。
